I have the leaked jellybean version from Christmas. I am rooted with the RAZR blade zip. I have safe strap 3.11 installed and also have sq lite editor. I have downloaded the 40 mob file and try to install through recovery. It keeps saying failed. Don't really know where to go next. Can anyone help me get the update without losing pictures and music?

You need to uninstall safestrap. To do so, open the app and select remove safestrap (or something similar). Then try installing the update.

you also need to be bone stock, unfreeze any apps, use voodoo to temp unroot and protect root. there is a guide in one of the threads and if you still fail matt hase a utility that does it all for you

If it were me, I wouldn't temp unroot. First protect root, then do the temp unroot/restore root thing 3 times and leave it rooted while you do the update. Why? I'm not sure but that's the way Matt said to do it when the JB leak came to be. It's the way I did it for the OTA and it worked for me.

Also, once you're up and running, open Voodoo and delete the SU backup if you plan to make a backup of the stock side in safestrap. For some reason it seems that the backups fail if they are made while root is protected by Voodoo. Well, that's not quite right I guess. Safestrap will back it up OK but the backups will fail when you try to use them to restore the stock side.

Thanks for everyones help. I disabled safe strap and then uninstalled it and then tried installing the ota update and failed again. I don't know how to unfreeze apps or find out if I deleted apps. Is there a way to check and see? Thanks again for everyones help.

You can continue trying to troubleshoot this problem or you can just use Matts JB Utility to reset your JB and it has Razr Blade built in so you can root and install SS again.
