I'm trying to root my Maxx but I'm not being successful. The directions are short and only say:
Linux/Mac-
-Extract .zip
-Open terminal and cd into the folder
-Run:
chmod +x razr_blade.sh
bash razr_blade
.sh

I for the life of me can't get it to work. What does "cd into the folder" mean? I'm going to need a step-by-step. I have an intel based last gen iMAC. Thanks!

Its easier to walk someone thru in the chatroom.....

cd as in change directory same as windows.....
Open Terminal, type cd and a space, then drag the folder where the utility extracted into the terminal window and hit enter/return. you should now be in the folder/directory where you extracted all the files, and you should be able to see them. then do the chmod +x raz_blade.sh and then run it.

Worked like a charm! Thank you. I'm sure others will benefit from your information.

I have a Motorola Razr Maxx with Jellybean recently installed and cannot root device with Macbook pro. Tried several times with no success. Help would be appreciated.

I still cannot root my Motorola Razr Maxx that has the jb update. I have followed the instructions and all progress until I get the following after phase three, which will not allow me to root. Not sure where to go from here.

This is what I get for phase three:

Phase three (this will take a minute)...
failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, File exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exists

It goes on to phase four and I end up with an unrooted device. I am attempting to root using a Macbook pro. Maybe this is the issue.

I have rooted several phones using this on my mac...in your first post you made a bunch of mistakes, like not making the script executable. In the second post, I would say that your Smartactions have probably been updated so the exploit is failing.

You can try and troubleshoot the Smartactions by clearing data and cache for it, or you can get Matts JB utility which will restore your JB properly and then has Dans Razr Blade in it to root.
