I am trying to stop the constant nag to update to 4.1.2. I am not worried about trying the method to update that protects the ability to go back at this point I can stick with 4.1.1. The phone decided to download the updates without my permission and I worry it will take it upon itself to install them if I don't block it somehow.

I have only been playing with my phones for the past 5 or 6 days so still have A LOT to learn.

I read that an easy way to do this would be to edit the fingerprint line in the build.prop display to look like the OTA update then it will stop trying to update it.

I don't have the full version of Titanium so I can't freeze updater.apk and for some reason I can't find the updater.apk in any file browsers that I have (don't have root explorer) so I can't change it to updater.apk.bak

So...Would I ONLY need to change the ro.build.fingerprint entry?

Currently it is motorola/XT926_verizon/vanquish:4.1.1/9.8.1Q_39/41:user/release-keys

What would I change? Just "4.1.1/9.8.1" to "4.1.2/9.16.6"? Can't be that easy, can it?

Thanks

You have to change the ro.build.version.full and nothing else.

Thanks Matt! It worked beautifully, no more nag!

I decided to go ahead and take the update. I changed the ro.build.version.full back and was prompted to download the update. I protect root with Voodoo, but installation keeps failing.

It is 100% stock. I have done the mobile hotspot entitlement hack, and used some programs like game killer. I can't think of anything that would be stopping the update.

I also installed adfree, but I don't think that would cause a problem.

I definitely haven't erased any stock apps or anything like that that I can think of.

i don't have the pro version of titanium. That is why I chose to change the ro.build.version.full instead.

I disabled Moto Services and see no more nagging updates.
