Facebook Announces Facebook Home: Will You be Using It?

At today's Facebook event in California, they announced Facebook Home. Facebook Home is a suite of apps that bring you closer to your Friends on Facebook. The center of the whole deal is the launcher replacement. It turns your homescreen into a "Cover Feed", which is basically an interactive News Feed. You can swipe left and right to view stories in your News Feed, like them, and comment on them, all without leaving your homescreen. Of course, the integration doesn't stop there. Facebook Home integrates fully with the existing Facebook Android app and Facebook Messenger. You even get little "Chat Heads" that represent your conversations with people on SMS and Facebook Messenger.

Although it may look and sound like Facebook is trying to smother the underlying Android platform, they're not. This is merely an app that you can install from the Google Play Store (provided that you have an HTC First, One, One X+, Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, or Galaxy Note 2) on April 12. You can still access the full Google Play Store and install regular Android apps as normal. Facebook wasn't trying to create a new OS, just providing a homescreen replacement.

I know the bulk of this community are Motorola phone users, if you could or can, will you use Facebook Home when it become available?

Oh trust me I hate Facebook with a passion. I can't get my family to pick up a phone though or write a letter though so FB is my only way to communicate with them. I'm sure their project will be half-assed as most of their updates are but it's got my interest a little.

Same here. I will probably excitedly download it as soon as I can, then decide that I hate it and get rid of it within a couple of days.
