I read in one of the other threads that folks were having problems restoring backups made in 2.4. They seem ton work fine on 2.3.2.3

Not to sound stupid so i apologize, so find a stock boot.img and flash that first and than flash energy? i see that Energy already has a boot.ing file in it

Nah don't have to flash a boot.img unless you have flashed cm10 before

I always backup boot when I do a back up too so if you backed up energy and flashed cm10 then wanted to go back to energy you have the boot.img when you restore

Do all the features work on CM10?  If WiFi, BT, and GPS are working, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Everything except NFC and WiFi Direct. But I don't use those features at all so doesn't effect my experience

Yep they work. WiFi can be a tad buggy but that's easily fixed. It likes to "avoid poor connection" on me... Fixed with a play store app tho
