rooting steps

Best Answer cmh714 , 18 April 2013 - 01:59 PM

Hi people, Im new to this phone, I used to have the droid charge, I was a flashoholic until my phone got wet, I am very lost and I would like to know if somebody can give me links on step by step instructions on how to root my phone, I don't even know what version of Android I have, system settings says Android Version 4.1.2 and I got a big system update yesterday.

Thanks in advance and I am looking forward to help as much as I can on this community.

So sounds like you have the latest JB but you can validate by checking the System Version. If the number ends with .16 your up to date.

For rooting, you need to get the Razr Blade utility to root yourself. It uses a vuln in the SmartActions app, so that can not be updated. If it is, you need to remove the update.

If that doesnt work, then the easiest method would be to use Matts JB utility which has the Fastboot files for JB plus root and an install of Safestrap if you want to use custom ROM's.

And welcome :)
