SQLite Editor - mobile hotspot

Best Answer kellym , 29 April 2013 - 11:20 AM

I may try that app, I just rebooted and the tether is working now. I like the hotspot as I can turn it on and off and don't have to worry about my kids using wrong wifi connection, inadvertently tipping Verizon off. If the app has a similar feature, I'll try it. PITA to reboot when I want to use this feature. Thanks for your help. Go to the full post

My device is rooted (Jelly Bean - thanks, Dan!).  I purchased SQLite Editor, went into settings, set entitlement value to 0.  The first few days, I could select mobile hotspot and wifi tether other devices to my Bionic.  Now, when I try to select mobile hotspot, it turns on, send a signal, and then almost immediately turns itself off.  I've tried several times, checked that the entitlement value is the same.  Hotspot continues to turn itself off.   Any thoughts on what else I should be doing?  Before I was able to root, I did use FoxFi (the free version for a few days).  I uninstalled that app before rooting, I can see FoxFi network name greyed out in the background now.  The first few times I was able to use the hack to tether, the network name came up as FoxFi, not a Verizon name - maybe this is an issue - one I'm not sure how to resolve.  Thanks.

did you try going into settings -> apps and clearing the cache/data for the mobile hotspot app?

Those areas are grey-out and have 0.00B - looks like nothing is in there.

Have you tried WiFi Tether for Root Users available in the play store? Works great, and one doesn't have to screw with anything to get it to work

Has Anyone else encountered a problem with tethering multiple devices simultaneously between BT and USB? Before the JB update, I could tether my laptop using USB, then my tablet and girlfriends laptop via BT. I did the entitlement hack and confirm WiFi works, but I would prefer not to use WiFi hotspot. Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't Verizon catch illegal WiFi tethering more easily than USB or BT? BTW, I usually stay under 20GB/mo.

you do have to reboot after applying the hack to let the system update and realize it no longer needs permission, but you shouldnt have to reboot each time you wish to turn on tethering.

i've never tried to use multiple forms of tethering so I dont have an answer there. but no you only have one data connection to the phone so no matter what method you use to access the internet (whether it be your native browser, or an external browser via BT, WIFI, or USB) its utilizing that one data connection. besides staying under 20gb a month you'll fly under the radar. IMO its above 30-40 that would start to look suspicious. I regularly use 20-22gb a month legitimately.
