flashing in ap fastboot with ubuntu

im in the process of going completely ubuntu instead of the dual boot i have now and one thing holding me back is when i try to flash for example a logo with ap fastboot it just hangs on waiting for device after typing fastboot flash logo logo.img any help would be appreciated thanks

Is it even seeing your device? Let's start here as it sounds like it's not even seeing the phone. But let me know.

if you run:
 
$./fastboot devices

or while booted
$./adb devices

I can run adb commands while booted but it doesn't see my device while in fastboot I'll try that fastboot command when I get home too make sure

yes please tell me if it reports seeing your device with the "devices" command.

 

FWIW:

hmm, I've seen this before. And while my go-to answer is to say "drivers" this is normally only a Windoze problem. Idk where to start with this. I've seen it before, but have yet to see the solution. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful.

 

Try the "devices" command while booted in Fastboot and report back :)

when i type in $./fastboot devices it says no such file or directory

 

and np thanks for trying to help lol ill just google till i find something lol

ha i got it gotta type sudo before trying a command in ap fastboot mode such as "sudo fastboot reboot" etc.

then it works like a charm

np lol i didnt think about it because it dont require sudo when im using adb commands lol
