I use adfree and it works well. I barely ever see an ad. I don't use the symlink option. Just check daily and auto update.
Ive tried adfree and most ads still get through. Not sure why its different. I'm trying the rom toolbox route to see if that makes a difference.
Edit: Well Rom toolbox isnt working either. I set it up, rebooted, and still have all ads showing up.I wonder why my phone is being stupid. Really annoying. I have a rooted phone that I should be able to block ads on and it wont work.

Adaway has blocked all that I have seen. It is awesome. I would recommend using it over adfree.
weird that it's not working for you though..

You downloaded and installed the hosts right?
I've never had any issue with ROM Toolbox.

More options than most, and I never had an ad slip through while I was using it.
But, I stopped because I realized that those ads are what supports the app developers. Imagine if you had to pay for every single app? So I figure since the ad space is already there I may as well help the devs.

There are still some ads that get thru. Mainly on apps like gtunes. I haven't found anything to block ads in that or other music downloaders.

I used to use the ad blocker that comes with ROM Toolbox (Pro).

Unfortunately, most of those ads do not support developers. I'm an app programmer, I know. Those ads come through cookies, just like spams on your desktop PC.

Has anyone successfully used one of these apps to stops ads on their Razr? I was so happy with no ads when I had my HTC Incredible when going to Youtube but now I'm going crazy! I've tried both of them, and their "alternate" locations for changing the host file, but neither of them work. There has to be some way to do it. HELP!!!
I have used Adfree for about six months. And I change roms about once a week. Adfree has always worked for me flawlessly in two taps every time. I even freeze it after each update of the host file. Needless to say I am rooted. Og Razr. I never see an ad in browser...apps...anywhere on my phone.

I used to use adfree but now use adaway. I prefer adaway cause it blocks many ads that adfree failed to. I also found no success with Rom toolbox.
Same here Adfree sucks and adaway works much better
