Is it possible I need to rename the ss zip? Its failing and the ones that work all say boot logo proceed by what logo it is.
The zip name shouldnt matter. Try just using fastboot to flash the logo, its quick and easy.

been looking online all night trying to find out how to change my boot logo, the few ways i tried was just a failure.
i am rooted, unlocked, using custom recovery (twrp), and custom rom (cm10) i changed boot (animation) but when i go into
(AP fastboot) i get a flash failed. not sure what else i can do. if anyone knows how without encrypted instructions it wouold be great.

what phone? If its a OG RAZR, Bionic you would need to do the fastboot method. If you have a RazrHD RazrM you just flash the zip. Ones in the comments might be a zip with both so you might need to open the zip and take the flash able one out. Not sure what "encrypted instructions" but just flash the zip if your on one of the qcom phonesbeen looking online all night trying to find out how to change my boot logo, the few ways i tried was just a failure.

Hey zoo, i have been trying to make a logo with a picture of my daughter for my wifes M, but every time i flash it, it comes up all skewed with lines horizontally, cant even tell its a picture. Is there something different I would need to do with a regular digital pic taken with my Nikon d5100?

Sounds like it is either sized wrong or wrong format ...... believe it or not a few kbytes one way or the other will have a huge impact on how it looks on the phone

I resize the image and canvas to 540*540, and do the color mapping trick and all that, it seems correct, do it the same way with the others I have made. Is there anything else special I should do to the image?

641k on the size
Did you convert from jpg to PNG first?

Also take a look here for a more comprehensive way to make logos
The size should come out right as well... like I said it needs to be right around 855k to work properly;)

It does the same thing. I guess its something with the picture then....I dont know what else to do to make it work. There is also a white bar underneath the image as well.

it sounds like your making the file yourself maybe try using a logo.bin already made and works then put the picture instead, and maybe try having a small black border about the picture to separate the the pic from the borderIt does the same thing. Here is what I am trying, took my original image, resize it to longer length 540px. Then do a gradient layer, to make a black gradient around the pic, then color changes(red to 0 and blue to 100 and the other setting too), then export raw image, logo.bin. All starting from scratch. Also did flatten the image as well, not forgetting that step.

Here is the PNG of the image.
