What text app are you using? Im using go sms but sometimes i have issues with mms downloading correctly. Id use stock if there was pop up notifications.

Try SMS pop-up app. It's just a message pop up notification

I tried that before on my OG DROID. Might give that a shot. Sometimes wouldn't notify though that's why I stopped using it.

All stock! Can't stand text apps because of ads and some even have ads in the statusbar now.

I'm using stock with sms- pop-up for notifications. Loving the combo. As mentioned, apps seem to be getting too ad happy.
Anyone know how to add a personal pic on stock text? Unless (and likely am) I'm missing something I can't figure it out.

Use lucky patcher to remove ads and block ads with ROM Toolbox or other package.
