Ok so with all the hoopla about 3G and 4G and whatnot, is there anyone on this forum who had to dial up onto the Internet on 14.4K (or slower?)! I remember for my birthday getting a 56K modem and being happy as a pig. Now here we are talking about speed tests of 20 mb/s ON A GOD DAMN CELL PHONE!!!??? What blows my mind even more is that in the future one day we will laugh about 20 mb/s and how slow it is compared to our several yottabits per second (1bit X 10^24)! It's crazy how times change. /rant

Right! After the 486 they started with the Pentium with 400ghz!!!! Man that thing was fast, now my goddam phone is 3 times that speed and my Ti-nspire calculator is pretty close to it. And storage, jeeze. 64 gig SD cards and I remember installing games and programs that used 12+ 1.2mb floppy discs. Then when the CD-ROM was released the possibilities were ENDLESS! and a CD is (only) 700mb!

Lol - Oh the "Tandy 1000" - That was the computer that replaced my "Coleco Adam" PC- Took cartridges and cassette tapes.

I clearly remember using the new Tandy on my 2400 baud modem and connecting to local Bulletin Boards.

Oh and how jealous I was when a friend got a 9600 baud. Oh the memories of riding my bike 2 miles every day, just so I could enjoy his high speed.

I still remember my first computer, a Kaypro II running the CP/M operating system that cost just over $3K with bundled software. It had a staggering 64K RAM, two 5-1/4" floppies (I think 160K each) and a built in 14.4 modem that hauled around 9K at best.

So with the folks talking about AOL.. any of you use it before it was a browser as well? Remember those golden days when you had to setup a proxy through ie or netscape navigator to see what was the internet? Lol

Who remembers good Ol netzero and bypassing the monthly 10 he limit by registering new accounts.... or Kmart's blue light special... and blocking all the ads lol. Man I did a lot when I was 8 yrs old! Downloading new drivers for a day and yelling at the family for trying to use the phone... picking up the phone and hanging up and mashing a bunch of numbers to kick the sister off the net... *sigh
