heres a cheap idea i had to modify the original razr docks to make them work with the maxx, useful for anyone that do the battery conversion and dont want to buy a new dock.

all is used is: black foam sheet - $0.50 cents
double sided tape - $3.00
electrical tape - $0.75 cents

make sure you remove the insert on both docks.

what i did here was put double sided tape first, then the foam, then a few layers of electrical tape on top to make sure the phone is level with the connector on the dock. plus the electrical tape is almost the same color as the dock so it doesnt look that bad.

here all i used was double sided tape and foam, the phone slides in place nice and easy, i might be replacing the double sided tape with some kind of glue as the bends on the tape doesnt seem to want to stick too well.

That's some nice work you did there. The foam seems like it will give it a little bit more protection too. Less wear and tear on the sides of the phone since its not plastic on plastic.

I would be interested in that also. It's a pain to remove the case everytime I want to use my car dock.

u can get a $5 soft gel case from ebay and get the same results, u just have to give it a firm push to make sure it connects with contact pins.

Now I'm somewhat confused. Motorola lists the same multimedia dock for the razr as well as the maxx (don't know about the car dock).

Thus, why is there a modification needed to make the maxx fit? Am I missing something?

We have a razr here in the family, and I was about to get me a maxx, obviously planning on sharing the dockā€¦ ain't that possible then?

Dock and car dock are 2 different things. Desk dock fits both Razr and Maxx both in and out of cases. Car docks ate sold separately for each phone. Neither car dock works with case.

not totally correct. i purchased a kit from vzw that contained desk and car docks, usb cable with charger adapter, hdmi cable and headset. the car dock does work with a soft gel case after removing the dock insert. kit was $100.

I have to say the Razr has the worst car docking station and media station EVER! why could they not of stayed with the Droid X design in the first place? I had no problems with my X :) I've had nothing but problems with these pieces of crap .such a waste of money for such a lousy design . I myself did the exact same thing you posted here. I use velcro instead and used the soft side. works much better.
