You could also type fastboot reboot recovery to go directly to recovery from fastboot

you might have to rename or delete the other twrp files though and if that doesnt work use this guide to set up adb which you should do any way!

then we can do it right.

That's an excellent write up but unfortunately I can't get past opening the android SDK because I get s error. Hit run and it don't run or a page flashes for a sec and gone. I got windows 7 BTW. I did find a simpler tool with adb and flash that is said to work on all android devices. Will post a link to it maybe you or anybody that might have used it can let me know if its any good before I go further.

Hopefully the link works.

I haven't used that one. So I can't comment on it lol. There is also a flashable version of twrp 2.5 in he development section though. You would just flash that from the 2.3 twrp you have now . then just take your time and set yourself up with adb/fast boot cause that comes in handy at times!

You should be fine using that ADB from the link. Either it will work or not but that will not brick your phone just trying to install recovery....

Also, no offence intended but just installing recovery has been quite a project for you. I would suggest spending a good amount of time reading around this site before trying to install a custom rom. Of course we are all here to help but a good amount of reading does good at helping one help themselves.  :)

No offence taken. Dude I literally didn't know the internet existed till I met my wife some 12 years ago and all I've done since is surf. My thing is I love tinkering and modifying so I'm trying to learn this stuff without being a pita as much as possible. Eventually it will click and I'll punch myself in the head.

Ok after im done drinking this beer I just got im going to punch myself in the head. I now have twrp 2.5.0.0 installed and a backup done. Not sure if I need the first backup I made when in 2.3 or delete it but that's something else. Weres what I did. First got myself another beer then said F it and opened the simple adb fasboot file I downloaded. Pasted the 2.5.0.0 in the windows file then held shift then right clicked. After that entered the command prompt mattlgroff posted in his unofficial twrp post and hit enter. Phone was in fastboot also then it worked. Not really sure how but it did. So I guess im the beta tester for that abd fastboot download lol.
