Hey all, I love my Maxx to death, its been a great phone...but its mighty embarrassing when i seem to have to reset it all the time or have to wait forever to do something until it decides to "unlock" or move. See, my wife has an iPh*ne 4 and, while my phone outshines it in practically every way possible other than it being a better Apple than mine...hers does seem to have stability. It honestly seems every time i really need my phone, it freezes up and takes all the time it possibly can to work. Its annoying/embarrassing. Its all stock, no modding done and its got advanced task killer setup to kill practically everything after about 5 minutes of idle time...any ideas guys?

Use
utility and flash back to out of the box stock. That will help. Also get rid of the task killer. That may be causing your issues too. It's shutting all this stuff down so it takes way longer to start it back up when you need it- Nanniepoo, Maxximized and jp1044 like this

I agree with both things said here. On top of that, I would also install
and set your minfree profile to Aggressive. I have noticed that Blur can mishandle RAM and not leave enough free. Applying that tweak ensures that there will be enough RAM for apps to use when they are launched, which minimizes lag a lot.- Maxximized likes this

Thanks all. The task killer is gone. The phone should be box stock...its practically new. See, i have Best Buy's Black Tie protection...my other Maxx got broken so i turned it in...i haven't had this phone but for about a month. I don't have root access...not thinking I'm gonna do that...but i did install the program and set it to aggressive...so we shall see...

Well, that seems to have made a mild improvement, but its still kinda laggy sometimes and on occasion hangs up. Guess I'll just make the best of it if there's no other ideas...

Another update...phone seems to be doing some better. It still acts up, but overall it HAS improved over what it was. Are there anymore programs that optimize it and make it smoother and faster? Or is this the point that it has to be rooted to do better?

Use something other than blur for your launcher. Go Launcher works great for me, much better than blur and more personalization.

Download and install a launcher. When you hit home a pop-up will let you choose which one you want. There is also an app called "Homesmack" that makes it easy to switch between launcher and set a default

Well, i installed go launcher and locker today and I've been messing with it...it looks like it has a lot of potential but right now its just driving me nuts and making my phone act stupid and slow...can anyone give me tips on how to streamline this and make it work for me? On my old setup i was using widget locker, which i loved...i could open the phone, my chomp sms, Facebook and just unlock the phone...on this locker I'm having issues doing anything other than opening the phone, chomp SMS and unlock...I'm a noob...can someone teach me?

Ok, update. Screw GO Launcher. I deleted it and am now using Apex Launcher...its freaking awesome. My phone has sped up a lot and i find it a lot easier to customize...thanks y'all!

good to hear op, just want to caution you that this speed increase is probably only perceived because you haven't actually addressed the root of the issue being totally stock blur. moto not
only packs
the bloat but their framework adds a ton of burden on the system. this one

I also go to settings, developer options and change window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator transition scale all to .5x
