Earlier today I used the link below to root my phone and be able to use AdBlock Plus over 4G.  However, I get no 4G signal at work and connect to a secured wifi connect for internet.  After rooting the phone I get errors that a secure connection cannot be established both in my browser, my verizon app, etc.  Is it possible that the network can tell the phone is rooted and will not allow me to connect for security reasons, or maybe something went wrong during the rooting process?

Have you installed ssfestrap? If so... Boot into safe strap and wipe cache and dalvik cache...... If not you can boot into stock recovery and clear cache.....it may help....

I can download it.  I downloaded Boot Menu Manager but did not use it.

I uninstalled SU and I'm able to use my secure connection again.  I'm guessing I need to set up two separate ways to boot as a superuser and a regular one?

You can use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper (free in the Google Play Store) to temporarily unroot while you're at work.  There's no way to set up a dual boot so that one side boots rooted and other doesn't.

However if you uninstalled SU you may no longer be rooted.  If the only thing you were going to use it for was ad blocking maybe not worth keeping root?

If su has been uninstalled you no longer have root access ..... Sounds like something has gotten corrupted and you may need to restore stock (with Matt's utility) then try again....:)

I assume I am no longer rooted as my connection works, ABP has gone back to wifi only, and safestrap won't open.

The secure guest wifi at my work (NASA) is pretty advanced, so I assume they can probably detect vulnerabilities in mobile devices and refuse access.  I will try rooting again tonight and the voodoo tool to be "unrooted" while at work.  Unless there is a better way?  And the ad-blocking feature is worth the trouble to me, I hate having them interrupt all of my browsing/programs.

A WiFi cannot detect if you are rooted or not as it does not have access to your /system...... Rooting does not make your WiFi or browser insecure......

Not sure then.  All I know is I chose the option in SU to clean for unroot, restarted the phone and I've lost superuser privileges and everything works again.

Is there a series of screenshots or information that would useful for diagnosing the cause of my issue when I re-root the phone tonight and attempt to connect to my network tomorrow?

So far I've:

-Followed the instructions from the previous post, using smart actions as suggested.

-Rooted with the attached screenshot for results.

All seems to work fine even on home wifi (WPA2 secured).  I will post results after connecting (or trying to) to my work wifi.

Back to work with the same problems.  When trying to connect to any website I should get redirected to the authentication screen shown (from laptop)

I get the warning with "my Verizon" on any WiFi ..... I figured Verizon would rather just use its own network

I still believe tho that you have something corrupted and/or malware preventing connection.....

I didn't get the warning on my home wifi yesterday, and nothing has changed except running the scripts that I posted previously.

I used voodoo to temporarily unroot.  Still got an error trying to reconnect, although one saying it couldn't find the proxy server.  Force stopped Adblock Plus and restarted it while temporarily unrooted.  The program came up as blocking only on wifi connections, and everything works again.

Nice!  Guess Ad-blocker might have been jacking something up.
