Motorola seems to be at it again. Just one day after the Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD received soak test invites, the Razr M now joins the party, as invites are going out to some owners of the device.

As in the same case as the Razr HD models, if you are unlocked, we urge you to avoid this soak test and official OTA until it is confirmed nothing seriously bad will happen to your device.

There's speculations that the Razr HD update is Android 4.2; Razr M updates going out at the same time seem to increase those speculations. It still could be just a maintenance update, but it could be something bigger as well. We don't know at this point but we will soon.

This post will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.

A soak test is an ota push of an update release to those accepted in the Motorola Feedback Network prior to the official release of the software. In the past it has been to test the software in the wild, although now I believe IMO that it is more of a test of the delivery rather than implementation since the time between soak and OTA is so close.

In all the email copy pastes, I don't see them call it a soak or a test but rather a preview. I think that backs my thought in my previous post.

That's what I'm used to calling it, so is a lot of other people. Hell idk if its really called a soak test or preview on Moto's end or not. Soak test for us though haha.

I can't wait to find out what the people who got the preview have to say about it. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Hasn't this already been confirmed to just be a maintenance update though? Still 4.1.2 but now it's the .9 build?

So far, I've not seen much mention of this release at all, so I'm not sure whether its a 4.2, or just a maintenance release yet.  Will find out when I get the software push, I guess.
