Has anyone had any success with any rom getting music to play through the usb out on the car dock and a micro USB to auxiliary cable?

nope -- it's a pita Blur-related Moto thang, I guess

I read that the og Razr can do it. Just figured the hd should be able to also.

I can do it with stock JB on the HD, but not with CM or any other 4.2.2 ROM

Works with play music, amazon mp3, mlb etc for me

I can get my maxx hd to work in my Cruze via USB but not my maxx (non-hd).  Stock.

Mine worked with stock music player and Poweramp through moto car dock and usb/3.5mm cable from moto.  Navigation worked fine through it as well via google maps.  I also had all of the moto dock services frozen and it still worked. Last time I tried was on the 9.16.6 stock ROM.  I have not tried it since CM 10.1

Got my cable today.
It works with my wife's phone, stock, one OTA before current
Does not work on AOSP Eclipse though :-(
I flashed a blur based eclipse and then it works.

Are u guys changing any settings? And us everyone using the cable from Motorola?

In my previous car (Subaru with no Bluetooth), I was able to use my RAZR MAXX HD with the Moto dock & USB/Aux "Y" cable to successfully connect and play music (Pandora, Google Play Music, Amazon MP3), Google maps, etc.  However, it would always play phone call audio through the phone's speaker, not the car speakers.  I contacted Motorola and searched around, and from what I was able to find, there's some sort of physical override with the Moto dock's USB plug that forces a Moto phone to play phone audio through speakerphone. 

 

My new truck has Bluetooth though, so I haven't tried Aux since then.
