Australian carrier Telstra has announced that the Android 4.2 update for the Galaxy Note 2 has been tossed, in favor of a newer version of Android, which is expected to be Android 4.3. This confirms the rumor circling around the internet the past couple of days.

Telstra had this to say:

"Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a new version of Android. No schedule has been provided for this update."

With the Android 4.3 announcement expected to take place next week, it seems favorable that Samsung take an action like this. Since it did mention "globally", it is expected that no Note 2 device will officially receive the Android 4.2.2 update. Being a fellow Note 2 owner, I don't mind having to wait a little longer to get the latest version of Android.

We will keep you updated if anything changes.
