So I flashed the Infex ROM to my Razer running the latest GB 2.3.6 and so far so good. I wanted to try different themes so I installed Go Launcher Ex on the safe mode side (Infex). Went to bed, woke up to find a warning that an OTA update failed. Now the phone keeps wanting to download and install an update that's older than 2.3.6. I had this happen before and uninstalled Go Launcher BEFORE the phone had a chance to update which seemed to fix this problem.

My question is, is there some way to disable OTA updates running Infex and the GO launcher app? Your help would be much appreciated.

Freeze the updater service, although I wouldn't think updater would have been left over from the debloat anyways. Also check the /cache partition for any updates that need deleted.

What app would you recommend for doing this?

Antek AppManager does freezing for free

I personally use Rom Toolbox Pro by jrummy for it's wide range of functions

Titanium Backup Pro is the original and still considered the standard by many

To check the /cache partition you will need a root enabled file explorer. I use the one in Rom Toolbox.

The standard is Root Explorer

A popular free choice is ES File Explorer

Thank you. I will give it a shot and post the results. Good thing I have insurance for a "lost" phone lol.

OK, well there's nothing in the cache to suggest an update at all and nothing shows for an updater service. I haven't had the download failure warning or a notice that there's an update available all day now and the only thing I did differently on the last warning was to just hit the home button instead of hitting "ok" in the warning box. I don't know if that had anything to do with it but it's puzzling me why I got the notice in the first place.

Anyway, so far so good and I hope I never see that happen again lol.

Hmmm. After rooting around some more I did find a system updater (com.motorola.blur.updater) so as a precaution I froze it while in Infex ROM. Will that stop any future ICS update to my phone or do I need to do that on the unsafe side as well? Also, will this still allow for 4G to be enabled when it becomes available in my area?

I'm perfectly happy with the way my cell is set up and I'm really not interested in upgrading unless i decide to change my mind.

if you would like to recieve the OTA you need to fastboot back to full stock and wipe data and cache
this is the only way to get the updates at this time.
In my Ferocious convictions, and in-dominant belief in my own actions, it would be a great advantage to anyone's interest who lay with mine..... Vanten Kiest
