So my friend came in to work today with a very strange thing going on under the date on his lockscreen.

That string of jiberish just keeps endlessly scrolling. When you plug in the charger the charging status comes up but once its unplugged it reverts back to this stuff. Any ideas?

I would try to wipe cache/ dalvic, or maybe just a reboot.
