I like the data only plans, too bad they don't include phones on that plan.

Come on guys.. they're including HOT SPOT free now too, that's AWESOME, you can blast through that 1GB (well, if you get that little), or even the 10GB in just a few days, that way they can rape you even harder. 40.00 PER SMARTHPHONE, and 30.00 for a BASIC phone? HA!

This is sheer BS. Unlimited minutes is OKAY, but the rest is pure garbage. They'll have to pry my unlimited from my dead hands, and even then they'll have a fight.

I'm going to ask my boss to start paying me in DATA, seeing that Verizon charges us like DATA is as valuable as gold

I wonder how this affects those of us on a grandfathered Alltel Unlimited plan... we pay $20/line for the phone, then an extra $20/line for unlimited data. Since we have two phones on 4G, one on 3G and one 'feature phone', I wonder how it will affect us next time the 3G phone is upgraded, or next time we choose to upgrade our RAZR MAXX's.

Now anyone want to get a new phone by adding a line has to pay 30 a month instead of 10 for old feature phone. That sucks.

well, I'm just going to pay full price for 2 reasons, I will keep my unlimited and I will have no contract to walk away from if things get any uglier than they are going to be at the end of June.

I have no issues with the pricing plan. I can save money on the new plans.

Now:
Family share with 5 phones and 1400 minutes, unlimited text.....$150
3 data packages (2 unlimited)....$90.

I also have a home phone that we would not need if we had unlimited minutes in cell.....$35.

Total: $275

New shared data:

3 smart....$120
2 basic....$60
10 GB shared....$100.

Total$ 280.

Currently the new plan is $5 more but we are planning to drop the two basic phones in the fall. Under the old plan that only knocks $20 off the bill but on the new plan it would drop $60 off. So in the end we save about $35 a month.

So will we be forced onto one of these plans unless we buy an unsubsidized device a la the unlimited data policy or is this completely separate? It seems to screw over single account holders who use very few voice minutes. :(

I was going to get into buying non-subsidised (300$ is outrageous for a "subsidised phone" IMO) anyway now that we have SIM cards. I figure I'm not alone in only staying on Big Red until it's for the last chopper out of Saigon/last boat off the Titanic etc etc.
With so many cable provider wifi hotspots I can usually keep my usage in New Jersey down to 2.5gigs /month but Verizon punishing 4 years of careful data usage is like being good all year for Christmas and finding out you not only get a lump of coal, it needs D batteries and they aren't included.

I'd go from paying $85 a month to $140 a month...Right now I get unlimited data, unlimited texting, and 450 anytime minutes. However, since I average around 9-10 GB a month, I would have to pay an additional $55 a month and this doesn't benefit me the slightest.

I'll just buy used phones off of eBay. As long as the phone doesn't have a cracked screen or other minor defect, I can purchase a warranty on the phone with Squaretrade. I'll milk my plan until Verizon terminates my contract for whatever arbitrary reason they can think of, i.e. excessive data use on an unlimited plan, excessive data use during peak hours, excessive time on a month-to-month agreement, etc. I'm sure they'll think of some strategy to force us off the unlimited data plan one way or another. I just hope that Cricket or Sprint launches LTE swiftly near where I live.

I like the new data plans.

Currently 4 smartphones with 2GB Data features on unlimited.

$50.00 Base plan
$49.99 x 4 phones = $199.96
$30.00 x 4 Data features = $120.00

Total =$369.96

New Plan

$90.00 = 8GB Data

$40.00 x 4 Smartphone =$120.00

Total = $210.00

$369.96 - $210.00 = $159.96
Thats a crazy amount of savings!

Unless I am miss reading the new pricing structure.
