Internal SD vs External SD

I am hesitant on getting a internal SD only phone just because I don't really know what I would do if I lost everything. Am I over thinking it? Does internal SD data such as pics always stay even in the event of factory reset, flashing new roms etc? Sorry if it is a stupid question.

cmh714 followed the link and just bought 8 for my family and self my brother and his two kids. I actually made a device that does the exact same thing major difference though mine is ugly and bulky. see I just got my xt926 just under a month. I used two broken micro USB to USB cables casulties of two puppies two old sim cards for the fine metal to make the tiny circuit board exacto blade to carve and cut the sim cards to how I wanted the the way the wires to context mini USB side phone to my tiny circuit board . a few resisters to keep power under .30 amp then the board to and old 8gig micro SD careful connect to the wires to the proper contact on the micro SD used the highest quality of electronic solder my biggest worry was hoping that I can make each solder point fast enough to keep the heat from destroying the micro. I did it just for fun now seeing the site I had to buy some to support the inventer he did a great job on final design work for the outer cover from what I can tell from pictures. He built a nice accessory that super nerds will like and the average Joe will like because the accessary still gives them the power to show off to all his buddies and coworkers that he is up to career tech for cell phones. Lol his adapter 12 bucks my just for fun just to see if I could do it actually used up to about 50 bucks of parts. So thanks for the advice I can already think of things I want to try on my old droid bionic that is rooted :-)

Not sure it works on the Bionic. It doesnt work on my 912 and think the Bio is the same, but not 100% sure.
