EDIT: Megaupload is dead.

It works, but forever root doesn't. I used Zerg's one-click afterwards - which didn't work the first time, but did on a retry.

Or you can wait for the preroot :)

I have thrown together a zip for those of you that have migrated off the OTA upgrade path. If you have modified your system apps by removing bloat and not freezing the bloat this will get you back to a stock state so that you can accept the OTA.

This is just a stock, odexed rooted rom. I have tested out Supercurios rootkeeper from the market to maintain root through the upgrade as well.

Download stock prerooted 744 system rom:

Here is a zip that will apply forever root that you can flash in clockwork.
Download forever root patch:

This is not flashable but here are the preinstall files that you will need too. If you had safestrap installed you will need to create a folder in preinstall named KnowYourDevice. Just place the files in "preinstall/KnowYourDevice"
Download preinstall files:

This download file is showing as

NitroPreRoot_Blur_Version.6.11.744.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip

(27.77 MB)

... that seems small for a stock, odexed rooted rom. Is this linking to the correct file?

Agreed. Want to make sure before I flash this on my "safe" side.

Any reason why the OTA won't install on my phone? Rooted stock system, all stock apps are present & I unfroze everything that was frozen. Tried 4 times now using the update that was pushed to my phone & it keeps failing? I didn't change a thing other than the boot animation & different battery icon. Would that cause it to fail?

Edit: Currently restoring a nandroid from before I froze or changed anything. Once done I'll attempt to take the OTA. We'll see how that goes.

Do not flash that update. I posted the link by mistake.

The 27MB update, the "full-sized", or both?

EDIT: Nvm I see you changed the link to the "full-sized" and removed to 27MB one.

so the full-sized one is the one to use then? if so, can it be used standalone on safe system?

So I derped and wiped my safe system: disabled side and tried to install the .zip. Obviously, won't let me. However, it seems to be a clean slate and the original rom, with Superuser still on there.

On another note, I haven't flashed this ROM yet b/c I like my Th3ory rom. If someone could point me out a way to backup/restore my Th3ory rom on the safe system: enabled side I'd love to help out though.

just run a backup while safe system is enabled, it will back up your safe side, with the option to include the unsafe system as well. remember to verify once it's done :)

Apparently I failed harder than I thought and wiped off my Th3ory rom. Giving this one a go.

EDIT: Nvm trying to Restore first. Here we gooo!

EDIT 2: Attempting to flash Razr-stockRooted.zip
