I bought razr maxx through verizon, my dad got his through a small isolated phone company. His has xt908. I noticed that his is a lot more lightweight compared to JB 4.1.2 for xt912. What if i swapped out the system.img from the .sbf file in my xt912 with the system.img from the xt908.
What would happen? anyone have a spare razr maxx that they are willing to try this on or has someone tried this already?

would it prevent me from being able to sbf?
i wont be changing the boot.img, preinstall.img, radio.img or any other ones, just the system.img

I don't know but I am not sure you want to find out. The software is built to work with specific hardware and obviously the hardware is different.

If you bork the 908 .... you may be in for a LONG wait to fix.... the firmware is not easily found (if at all) .....
....you should be having fun....
I has the firmware!! I have the sbf file for it. its only 4.0.4 though.
My phone is the xt912, just for reference.

What you are trying to attempt is not possible. The system contains files/app for your device or any device for that matter that are designed specifically for that device, flashing a system from another device will end up turning your phone into an expensive paper weight and if by some crazy chance it does boot up you would end up with endless force closeing of apps. Your best bet is to flash a custom ROM or debloat/freeze the apps you do not care for.
even though they are both razr maxx's? would i be able to re-sbf if it didn't work?
