Hey everyone!

I really, really need a hand. We just bought a used Droid Razr Maxx online. Bottom line: I just want the thing to function as a normal phone, because any of the fancy modifications that will make it do cool stuff are way beyond my skill set.

The listing says that it is rooted (a term that doesn't mean much to me. A definition would really help), and that it has Cyanogenmod on it.

When we got it, we turned it on, and immediately got a screen that said, "Safestrap: Disabled". Below that, there are two options, "Menu for Recovery", "Search for Continue". If you choose "search", the phone powers off. If you choose Recovery, it brings you to a menu.

The first box is "Boot Options". We have the option to choose from 5 different ROM slots. All but the one labeled "Stock ROM" gives out a warning that there is no OS installed.

The "Restore" option has no packages for restoration.

The "Reboot" option brings you to a menu that has two choices: System or Power Off. Power Off does exactly what you'd expect. System does nothing.

Here's the thing. I know nothing about this stuff. If someone could just walk me through the steps (like you're walking a kindergartener through it) to get me to the regular, plain, no frills, stock menu for this dang phone, I would be so very grateful.

Correction: "System" in the Reboot menu, restarts the whole shebang. Back to the beginning.

Use option 1 of the utility and it will restore 100% stock.... then you can persue the other options (root, safe strap, etc)

Just make sure you are charged 100% before running....

"... try not, do! or do not! there is no try..."
