Look in /data/local if you are on a custom ROM .... sometimes the dev will put it there..... otherwise deleting or renaming the droidhd.ogg in /system/media/ .... should do it..... not /system/media/notifications.....

How can the drrroiiid statup sound be disabled on the Razr M? The phone is rooted, I found a file named droid.ogg in system/media/audio/notifications and changed the name, but no joy.

You're a genius! Problem solved. The phone is rooted, but using stock rom. The file was in system/media, and it was named droidsm.ogg.
