Just to give you a little insight, I have no experience with flashing roms or messing with my android past general root, besides a tutorial to GSM unlock it for straight talk using RadioComm which went fine.

I apologize but I am new to this and things might have to be explained more thoroughly than would needed to be for other people.

My Razr M xt907 which was rooted months ago, and sometime in the last few months superSU stopped working along with the root-needed applications.

The other day, i got the error that homescreen stopped working, contacts stopped working, basically everything stopped working, so I turned off my phone. Upon trying to turn it on, I found that it would stay at the red android animation or the "eye" as I have heard it called, and just plays the animation, until the battery dies, I can't do much else. I have not been able to find much about this issue, I considered it bricked, but I know that most things can be fixed.

I attempted this tutorial:

to see if it would restore my phone, to my dismay RSD failed, and none of the phone description was showing up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? This is my only phone... really bumming me out not being able to use it, at this point i could care less about the information on the internal storage obviously.

Thanks!

If your boot loader is locked you can't flash that file in the link you posted. Ints 4.0.4 your probably on 4.1.2. Make sure your battery has a decent charge , boot to the boot loader screen pwr,vol up and down  then start red with proper fxz plug phone in and start

Thanks for your response, However I am unsure of what this means:
then start red with proper fxz plug phone in and start

what is fxz? and red?
Sorry very new to this.

And yes my bootloader is locked based off what i can see from the fastboot screen

something went wrong, now for some reason it only boots into fastboot. Details as it sits on the wall charger.
Had the same issue with RSD as I did before aft when I tried 4.1.2,

The Phone displayed this at the bottom of the fastboot screen:
USB connected
Downgraded Security Version
update tz version failed

preflash validation failed for tz

this is the end result when I try to turn on my phone:

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (s)

10.9B(*) (sha-1e9f557, 2013-05-24 14:49:34)
eMMC Info: Size 8GB

Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0

Battery OK

Transfer Mode:
USB Connected

Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure

any suggestions?

The downgrade means your still attempting the wrong version. You need the current version that your phone was running.

Is there a way to identify the correct version? or do I just have to use good ol' trial and error and try all the available ones?

Just a note...... once you flash the correct version via RSDlite or House of Moto.... you may need to run radiocomm again to be able to reactivate on straight talk.... as a successful flash will wipe the entire phone and reinstall out of the box stock.... (which includes the stock radios)....

The sbf file you will need is here

(the last one on the list) ....

AFAIK ...if you plan to use RSDlite .. you will need to edit the actual XML file and delete the 2 lines that contain "get var"

I personally would recommend using sams House of Moto tho....

.... basically copy/paste flash. .....:)
