The last few days, both my wife (Droid X2) and I (Droid Razr) have been getting notifications and items placed on our home screen. It is usually a link to sign up for some kind of apps or advertising for jobs. When you click on them it takes you to web sites. Is anyone else getting these and if so, where the hell are the coming from and how can I stop them?

They are getting real annoying. We get 1 to 3 a day.

Any help appreciated.

Is there an application that you both downloaded recently around the same time? Could be coming from an application, I think.

My wife rarely downloads and app and I can't think of anything odd I have downloaded lately.

I don't have that FX app mentioned. I am sure it is some app causing it, just can't figure out which one.

It's Google AdMob ads and Auto Adding Widgets. These are both settings that you can turn off in the Play Store

Open the Play Store and press the menu button on your phone, select settings.

Uncheck "Auto Add Widgets"

Uncheck "Google AdMob Ads"

Unfortunately that was not it. The wife had a couple of shortcuts on hers today. I didn't but I set my ADW EX to lock the desktop so that should help prevent it. Her's said something about "Appfiles". Some new site to download apps for the android. I am going to investigate it a little and see how they are putting these shortcuts on the phones.

I'd try disabling the downloading of apps from unknown sources and see what that does.

Thx. It found one program called signal booster. I uninstalled it and will keep an eye on it. The wife doesn't have that program but still run it on her phone.
