Hello,

I have a stock, rooted, unlocked XT907

I use Rom Toolbox Pro as my file manager, root browser, etc.

I can't seem to uninstall certain apps.

Specifically Amazon Kindle and Audible.  There might be a few others.

I took the OTA after I rooted and unlocked so I'm on the latest stock.

I I've gone back into TWRP and made sure System was mounted.

I'm pretty sure I'm still rooted because RTPro and SuperSu haven't given me any errors and they usually do if I do something that loses root.

Any ideas?

TIA

Those apps typically can't be uninstalled the conventional way .... you will need to use a root file explorer and delete the apk itself.... or use titanium backup (or similar) and freeze the app.... :)

Also.... when done, you should boot into TWRP and wipe cache and dalvik cache ..... then delete the folders for those apps on the root of internal storage (if any have been created)

RTPro is a root explorer. That's what's weird.

I've used it without a problem on my Thunderbolt and on my Nook HD+ and I've never run into this.

I can freeze them with RTPro, even converted Kindle to a user app from system app.

It's like when you have an app that's a Device Administrator, and you have to uncheck that first, but in this case, neither one is listed under Device Administrator.

I've both using the RTPro App Manager and going into the root browser, going to system/app and trying to uninstall from there. In that case it tells me it wasn't uninstalled.

Instead of trying to "uninstall" try to delete the apk....... you can also use ADB /ADB shell ... and delete the apk.... Also... within the file explorer... you have to mount the /system/app as RW "The force is strong with this one..."

shame on me for rooting and flashing this long and still not learning how to use adb/adbshell. I guess it's about time.

I know I can mount system/app rw, but I can't find it.

Weird again.

I'll keep looking.  Thanks

Thanks. I appreciate that. I'm going to fumble around for a while, totally screw things up, cry, curse, stomp and tantrum and then ask for help :-)

For when I finally come crawling back, what's your favorite ADB guide?

I know there are several.

As long as I'm here, anyone know why I have a zillion (I counted, it took me a long time), A zillion USB1, USB2, etc. drives when I look in /storage?

It's showing I've got almost nothing left on a 16g SD drive, I know I haven't used up 15g yet.

So I went into TWRP to back-up my current rom (the afore mentioned stock) and I got a Failed error.

There's something up with how my internal and external SD are mounted.

Download root checker from the app store and run it. This will prove one way or the other if you really do have root. It makes me wonder because you said you rooted, unlocked and then updated. But you made no mention of running a root keeper. It would be worth checking out.

I've installed 2 root checker apps and both confirmed root.
BUT, I've also flashed the most recent Rage stock rom.
BUT, I couldn't have flashed that if I didn't have root and wasn't unlocked.

I think I've got a bad stock nandroid.

you can delete stock apps by finding them and deleting them from the System/app folder if they not there than find them in Data/app folder and if they are not there there is a folder called publisher i think where verizon puts all its apps. make sure you mount before deleting and after just reboot.
