Okay. I am assuming with the hds, the internal memory and the internal SD card are one and the same. So, does this mean in twrp recovery when I wipe data, I'm wiping my internal SD card as well? The reason I ask is because when I do wipe data when flashing to a new rom, I lose externally downloaded files, such as my map files, for the CoPilot gps app, games, etc. Under my og RAZR maxx, that never happened.

When I wipe data, I was assuming it would have been the stuff in /data/data, not the SD card.

How do I prevent this from happening?

Thanks.

Sent from my Droid RAZR HD under an Eclipse.

When you wipe data (in twrp) it only wipes /data (minus /data/media).....

Your app data and such does not get stored on the "sdcard" it is stored on the /data partition..... so yes, when you wipe data you will lose that stuff (unless you manually back it up prior).....

Wipe data is the same as Factory Data Reset....

That's what I thought, but it's strange. When I flash a new ROM, I lose that external data. If I don't wipe data, then it stays, but I usually cannot boot the ROM up as it hangs. Then, when I wipe data, it's gone.

For example, I have externally downloaded data at /sdcard/com.alk.copilot.namarket.premiumusa.

If I flash from a 4.1 to 4.3 (or 4.3 to 4.1), I seem to lose the data. I have to always redownload my maps. I never had this issue under my OG RAZR MAXX, only under the RAZR HD.

Thanks for any ideas as to what might be causing this.

Typically when you switch from one ROM to another, you can't use any app data from the previous ROM ..... especially if the new ROM is a different base.... (such as the difference between 4.1 to 4.3.....
