Verizon just shipped me a new Droid Razr M which came with the new update on it. I absolutely hate having a device with all the bloatware and want to remove it all however I cannot root the damn thing? What can I do as I really hate owning a phone I can't do anything with?

Thanks,

Ollie

Hurry up and wait for a solution? Is it likely that there will be a solution anytime soon?

With the age of the device (I know it's not that old) and the fact that many of the devs have moved on there is less of an emphasis to do so. I would say it doesn't look promising right now. But then again, I've been proven wrong here before. Here's to hoping I'm wrong once again :) Sent From My DEV X

If it has never been updated to .18 then yes.... if it has been, and then "rolled back" then no it cannot....

My suggestion..... try un locking .... the worst thing that can happen is it will fail and you will not be unlocked ...

.3 and .78 are pretty much the same update and can't be unlocked, but it won't hurt to give it a whirl.

I know but Motorola are so strict with the bootloader! I think I have it all figured out now, just have to wait for my linux distro to reinstall on my dev computer and I hope I will have root
