I meant that when I'm taking a screen shot it usually is something that is only on the screen for a very brief period. (Sorry, should have been clearer)

Oh ok, sorry for seeming snooty, after re-reading my post it seemed that way. Just misunderstood what you were saying :)

I agree with rycix. There are times when you only have a few seconds to get the screencap. I'm certainly glad they finally included the functionality, but the button combination method is fairly cumbersome to me and doesn't really lend itself well to a quick capture. (How many of your screenshots have the volume slider showing?) I would love to see a mod to make a long press on the back or menu button run the capture. I played around with the cy8c201xx.kl file a little but only managed to kill all of the buttons but the back button and disable all the installed keyboards. LOL

If any of you have any pointers, I'd appreciate it, as I'm sure many others would.

I just took a quick video with my wife's droid x. It really doesn't take that long to grab a screenie.

It's native to ICS, even non-rooted. Just hold down power & volume down until it takes the screenshot.

Best app is ShootMe (Screen Grabber) [must have root], if not Power+Volume Down works.
