Just went through the process with RSD Lite - everything looks the same, how do I know if it was successful?

You very well can use SS with one ROM. Anyways it is a personal preference.

I wouldn't say bootstrap is history, yet. Lol. Safestrap is in case something went wrong and gave you a chance to recover since no fastboot files were available until now. There are stil ppl that rather have one rom installed. Idk, lol

Exactly.

I used SS and bootstrap and I'd prefer to use bootstrap, lol. So I hope its not history. :)

This FB has no CDT.BIN nor webtop.
IF a GB user flashes this via RSD he/she should be able to flash back to Gingerbread, as long as he/she has not already ran thru the official 211 OTA or a leak above 79.

From the sounds of it, I can flash this over GB, right? I called Verizon, and they said I likely won't have the ICS update for another couple weeks - it won't even let me pull it manually. Would this be the best way to get official ICS on my phone? Also, if I do upgrade to ICS with this, will I still get the OTA updates from Verizon in the future?

Hi, obviously new here (first post)....but can anyone tell me what this actually does? I am not a hacker person/dev, etc. In fact I have no idea what any of what you guys are saying means (safeboot, safestrap, xda, etc) but I do know that you guys know a lot about these phones!

So for someone like me, does this update do anything feature-wise? For example, when I went to ICS, I lost the ability to switch accounts on the email widget. I also cannot link the notifications volume to the ringer, which means my smart actions are useless. They got rid of things like the social widget and their news feed which were both great. So, basically, I am wondering if this update actually adds any features, or just does background cleanup that I would not understand anyway?

Thanks! Oh, and this Matt person sounds wonderful.

All this does is install a fresh copy of the OTA .211. It doesn't add any features or anything.

Okay, thank you so much. I guess I do not get why people want it then? If it does nothing? I really wish there was a fix for the volume thing.

Thanks again.

People just want the fastboot files because they can just run them through RSD instead of going through the lengthy process that we currently have to go through to get back to stock 211.

People want this to completely return to stock like your phone. It is good to have if you need to return your phone for warranty due to no fault of your own. Also it is good to wipe everything every once in awhile
