As awesome as it is slapping on that custom ROM to your device, the process of having to backup and restore your applications, while simultaneously getting your settings just right is simply put, a pain. But wait a minute, what if it were possible to flash your apps in recovery right after the ROM? Well friends, App2Zip allows users to save precious time and do just that. Developed by SCDevs, App2Zip takes users’ current applications and places them into a custom recovery-flashable update.zip file. Users can then flash the ROM update.zip and then simply flash their applications in the same recovery session. All users need to do is fire up the app, give it root permissions, and it will create an update.zip. Sounds simple enough, right?

We need to have a few people test this out to see if the Razr works okay...

Seems interesting. If they include an option to auto-update this would take preference over TB and similar apps for me.

Just tried it and it works great. I flashed Axiom Infektion and then flashed the apps zip. Only issue I have seen is that Power amp force closed, but I just cleared data to the app and its all good

Yes the app works and it does have a fantastic potential.
Here are the suggestions I've made to the dev. I've got the pro ver to support it.
What do you think guys?

- in settings the choice to choose the storage between int and ext SD
- possibility to save the zip inside of a folder and not only in the root of the SD (to be included in 1st suggestion)
- yes you do have the possibility to change the zip name but the proposed default name which is "update" is confusing because there is already one update.zip on the phone
- black color in zip filename field before you save it doesn’t suggest you that you can change it.
- possibility to overwrite the old zip
- possibility to see what is in that zip and add new apks to an existing zip

Quoting from the help of the app:
"App2zip takes care of APK and app's data but does NOT copy to zip the data downloaded to sdcard (Typically large amount of data downloaded by games). However, if not deleted, that data can be used again once the app is restored."
You do have the choice to include the system apps as well.

Does it include apps+data?

I love this app so much, I bought it. I have been not very enthusiastic about flashing roms lately just because it annoys me to set the phone up so many times (I'm a serious crackflasher)... I've got TiBu Pro, but it still takes forever.

would be great if the dev of tibu and app2zip would combine the best of both app.

Ok, Im giving this a shot. sounds like a great idea. I have always used TiBu, but after flashing having to go to the market and downloading it before Im able to restore is a pain sometimes... I dont always have a good data connection. This seems like exactly what I have been hoping for. If it works good for me I will definitely be buying it.
Razr Maxx OTA, Rooted, Probably have some random ROM installled...

I just used this app for the first time & I must say I liked it. 1 or 2 apps fc'd after install, but that was kind of expected (I prolly did something wrong). It was very nice to just flash the zip in SS & reboot to all of my apps.

I wonder if one of the devs could just put this in one of their ROM's would be nice.

You can always just slip it into the zip file yourself.

Well I found that my Media player, couple live wall papers and a few other apps would just FC on me when I used this app, but TIBU works flawlesly, so I made a zip with just TIBU in it and now rather than going to the market and downloading it each time i just flash the TI.zip that i made. works great for me. Might not be the fasted way, but heck, I rarely do things the fastest or best way... :)
