I'm trying to root my droid razr.  I had one before (this is a replacement) and rooted it with Matt's root utility with no problems.  However, this time around, I can't even get the utility to open up properly on my PC.  It downlads fine but when I try to unzip the file my screen keeps popping up blank windows.  Anyone out there ever have this problem or know a remedy?  I'm trying this on a standard Droid RAZR, 4.1.2, XT912.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Here is a link to the page on this site.  It is also available on other sites.  A friend of mine turned me on to this site and forum and I like what I see, so far.  Thought maybe I could get some help with unzipping the utility on my pc.  I've never encountered this problem before so thought maybe the utility might be corrupt.

What are you using to unzip?...... Typically WinZip or WinRar are about the best to unzip the utilities.....:)

Okay.  I have downloaded these files before but when I go to open them up is where I run into problems.  My monitor immediately begins flashing multiple blank windows and nothing else happens.  I end up having to manually shut down my computer.

I'll give that a try.  Also, the link you shared says I can't downgrade from jellybean to ICS to run the utility.  Is this going to be a problem for me?

CLICK THE LINK BELOW FOR VERIZON XT912 INSTRUCTIONS! YOU CANNOT GO DOWN TO ICE CREAM SANDWICH FROM JELLYBEAN!

Have you tried opening any other zips on your computer to eliminate the possibility of a problem with WinZip?  This sounds more like an issue with it or Windows itself than a problem with the zip.  If the zip itself was  corrupted, you'd more than likely get an error message of some type.  Try right clicking on the file and choose open with, then select Windows Explorer.  If it opens,  I'd try reinstalling WinZip.  Have you tried rebooting your puter?
