It's on 4.1.2.  Previously I did the hack to keep the old bootloader and update to Jellybean but not sure I want to go that route again.

I was getting some crazy slow downs, where the phone would lag for like 4 seconds when trying to talk into google now, or it would take a few seconds just for the keyboard to come up, and then the swipe action would show up after I I had finished swiping.  I'd say it was more common to have this lag than to not have the lag.

Also, I missed the navigation app because maps was super slow and took forever to use.  Should I just stay on 4.1.2 or take the update?  Were the slowdowns because of the rom I was using or because I decided not to update properly?

edit: I also noticed scratches on my replacement near the power plug, but I guess that's part of getting an insurance replacement...  Planning to upgrade soon but waiting for the new phones coming out later this month first.

What device do you have?.... You are posting in the RAZR xt912 section, but are saying things that are not really relevant to the xt912....:)

Yes it is:).... I'm curious as to what hack you are talking about...... Also.... The 912 has not been updated past 4.1.2 yet (and not likely to)...:)

Crap maybe I was on 4.0.4 on my other phone.  I don't remember and the screen does not work.  The hack I was talking about allowed me to switch between leaked JB and post OTA JB roms.

My new phone says there is an update available for it though so I thought it had not been updated yet.

What should I do?  Sounds like I can't use any of the post OTA update roms on this one since it's already on 4.1.2?  I guess I didn't recognize 4.1.2 because I never ran the stock 4.1.2 lol

Just put whatever on it then?  I'm not exactly up to date on the latest and greatest ROMS for it right now.  Not even sure which tools to use to root it anymore.  Certainly want the hotspot hacked though and I prefer to get a ROm with it already in that state so I don't have to go flipping bits in a sql editor.

You can take the ota update.... It will be fine.... Still rootable and there are Roms available for it (yes, with the WiFi tethering hack already in place)..... If the update happens to fail, there are other options that WILL get you up and running properly :):) "No more training do you require...... already know you, that which you need...."

Just finished using the house of moto to recover all that data off my broken phone, thanks for that link in the other thread BTW.

So I took the update and it says I am on Sys ver 98.72.165.

Which roms are compatible and Which utility will get me back to rooted and Safe Strapped from where I am at now?

.... The root method (razrblade) included in here should still work :)

Yea rooted that way last time too.  I tried to install Aviator ROM but I get no signal so I guess it is not compatible with the latest update.  I guess I should not have taken the latest update :(

Which roms are compatible with it?

Looks like none of the new roms work after taking the OTA update :(
