Sorry if this is in the wrong section, mods feel free to move if it is.

Ive been trying to get free wifi tethering working on my VZ Droid Razr.

Ive currently got Wifi Tether Beta 9 installed and set under the Razr profile. Others have said that this is working for them.

My laptop can see my phone and it says it connects, but there is no connection.

Any ideas or other apps working for anyone?

Holy crap this actually works! try setting up access control. Mine didnt work until I did. but wooooooha! this rocks when im traveling!

Ah that was it!

I had gone into the settings and clicked "enable" before hand. I didnt know I would have to "enable" each individual device like it seems to.

Do the hack with Sqlite editor its a whole lot easier and then use can use the built in mobile hotspot

That's exactly what I do. Change one value, Reset your phone. Bing! Bam! Boom! You use the built in Tethering / MHS app.
Combine that with a tethering widget, and it works just as well.

Although, I do like alternativie ways of doing things. You never know when Verizon/ Moto will address certain loopholes.
I shall try this when I get home.

Not to mention this method has the advantage of being free. You have to pay for SQLite I believe. ($3, but still... )

I tried all kinds of apps and had that same problem every time, then I used the sqlite method and its perfect. Because it uses the built in wifi 'app' I suspect, built by Verizon / Motorola instead of a dev.

Plus SQLite is indispensable.

Plus you can always buy SQLite, change the entitlement check value, then get a refund on the app if you really want, but I use it ask the time. Well worth the three bucks.

Ive been using Beta 3.1 pre 110 with no issues. Plus 3.1 pre 115 just got released 3 days ago.

I have been using the beta 9 for a while now on several phone and have not had a problem. But I have started to use the SQ lite one just for the convince of the password. To me this one is well worth the 3 bucks for the program and not to mention using it to do some other things

I mean wifi tether is working for me, but like mentioned above, its always nice to have more than 1 way to do things

Yup switched to 11 two days ago.. this beta project rocks! I was so against stealing the use of an additional service offered by vzw... but after 6 bionic's, 3 razr's, and six months of $#!+ty lte... SCREW U VZW.. YOU OWE ME FOR BETA TESTING YOUR LTE NETWORK.

I actually pay for the hotspot app. But... that is because tethering my phone is my main internet source for my laptop/Xbox currently.

The only reason I won't pay for there tether app (at least for this term of contract) is when I signed my contract I specificly asked about tethering my laptop on the road and was told its unlimited. Then 4 months later they took it away. When I sign a new contract same question will be asked and I'll pay for it(unless they tell me it's free again)

The 1st time I encountered this beta program was with my last and first droid phone and it was an LG Revolution and I used the beta 7 and it worked perfectly. so I stuck with it, yeah I was rooted with that phone as well. Gonna try the others but I know for a fact #9 don't work so well.
