Are there any specific settings we should be using in Wifi Tether for the Device Profile and the Setup Method?

I remember flashing another ROM once, and tethering didn't work when the Device Profile was set to Droid RAZR. I remember I had to change it to Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Setup Method to Master.
Should we be doing that here?

Yeah, I turned on the tether to have it install all of the binaries. it works fine for me no matter if I reboot or not.

I found out how to get sure fire 3G every time.

  • Change your Network Mode to LTE / CDMA
  • Go into ROM Toolbox and hit Root Browser (This will install WiFI Tether!)
  • Open Wifi Tether and let it install the binaries and config.
  • You can either leave the tether open or try to close and see what works best for you.

I also tested and restarted my phone to see if it was truely a great method.

After about 2 minutes I got instant 3G again.

Tell me your trials!

Did you get rom toolbox pro? Not seeing with tether with normal version.
I love it when a plan comes together...

THANKS!!
I fixed my issue thanks to you.
I have my profile set to SAMSUNG GALAXY NEXUS CDMA/LTE and set-up method as Netd-Ndc (master) and my other devices now see my phone. Cool, I am stuck on JB now.

No the rom toolbox that came with it. You just go into it and scroll down a bit until you see Root Browser. Either it will install a WiFi Tether application or you will get a notification that you need to update it. Once you do, you just start it from your app drawer and start tethering and you should get 3G soon enough.

ok, got it - your idea was good - but for me just installing the 3rd party wifi app and setting it the galaxy nexus profile and to master did the trick.

I had lost all data connectivity after trying a variation of things listed here, so I booted up my stock (safe mode disabled) and no data on that either! I then used the 1.8 utility to return myself to .211 stock stock, and still no data... what on earth?

Wifi tethering works - the data issue is easy to fix - just go into settings and data and switch to LTE/CDMA and wait a few seconds and 3G/4G returns.

Same experience here. I guess I'm lucky with both this Licorice build and the CM10 kexec build.
However, the one issue I have with the CM10 dhacker/hashcode kexec build is that it won't come back from a reboot. I'd have to hard reboot it (volume down + power).

My builds have same issue.
