So, is there a method that works or is this a myth?

App on the market works fine. Charge to 100%, calibrate(delete battery stats), run it low, charge straight back to 100%.

I wouldn't waste your time with any of this. It has been debunked many times...

When I think of calibration it isn't just deleting batterystats but I see it as "cycling" the actual battery. People say it is good to run your battery low at least once a month while other people say it won't do anything. It really is up to you...

With these batteries, it is NOT recommended to run the battery below 20%-30% I believe. So even "cycling" or "conditioning" the battery like that is definitely NOT good.

So it's ok to put my phone on the charger each night even if I have 70 or 80% battery left?

Yes, I believe so. I believe the optimal charging range is anywhere from 30% - 80%. I'm not 100% sure on that though.

Here's the short and sweet:

1. Battery Calibration apps DO NOT work. All they do is delete batt stats which as we should all know by know, does nothing to affect battery life or how the phone reads the battery level.

2. Battery "conditioning" is NOT recommended because you want to keep your battery between 100% and 20%. The method of conditioning these batteries, which involves draining the battery completey, is NOT recommended for these type of batteries.

Extremely short and sweet of it:

Just use your phone regularly.

Hope all that helps lol.

What manufacturing sources are you referring to?

Manufacturing sources?? If you're talking about the batteries, it's a known thing with Li-Ion batteries. Depleting them completely damages the battery.

Can you post a source for that statement as well?

Well here is the source stating that deleting batt stats does nothing for you (even though it's already posted)

As for NOT cycling the battery, check the first sentence of this post.

There's also this quote:

The Li-ion batteries prefer a shallow discharge. Partial discharges produce less wear than a full discharge and the capacity loss per cycle is reduced. A periodic full discharge is not required because the lithium-based battery has no memory. A full cycle constitutes a discharge to 3V/cell. When specifying the number of cycles a lithium-based battery can endure, manufacturers commonly use an 80 percent depth of discharge. This method resembles a reasonably accurate field simulation. It also achieves a higher cycle count than doing full discharges.

Hicks is right. There is no such thing as 'memory' with Li-Ion batteries. Thus, conditioning them has no effect.

A Li-Ions lifespan is dictated by # of charges. So the more you charge your battery, the faster it will die. Now, this doesn't mean you need to be afraid of charging your battery because:
- Letting the battery die completely is much worse for it than charging it
- Letting it dip too low is also worse than charging it too much

So in short: don't trip about calibrating the battery, don't 'condition' your battery, and don't let it die completely.

:-D :-D

I've switched back and forth from a few different ROMs and noticed my battery life seems to be progressively worse. Would flashing back to stock and starting over do any good?

And thanks for the info guys.
