Why do people flash stock deodexed ROMs? It really confuses me. A deodexed stock rom is nothing more than a blank canvas for themesr/modders. Flashing one just for the sake of flashing something other than stock is kinda...well...useless. I've heard the hocus pocus about them "feeling faster, smoother, snappier, etc." I call bs. It's placebo effect. Deodexed ROMs are nothing more than a nice starting place to mod and theme. They aren't really "ROMs" using the typical users definition of what a rom" is.

I usually flash just so i can add my own flavor to it but never really have the time to do a complete theme

I myself just like to add in my own twist on things here and there nothing more than that really.

There is one reason. Another is that some people make their own themes but do not release them to the public for whatever reason (such as NSFW themes).
I have several hundred pics (out of which at least 30% are NSFW) that I had originally sized to fit the D1 screen dimensions exactly (either length, width, or both if it was the correct aspect ratio) that I have posted up at my Picasaweb account. I could easily make a theme called the Joe Francis theme, but you bet your life I would not be able to post pics on most family-friendly sites. DF even asked me to remove my links in my signature (8 months after I put them up there with clear NSFW warning labels).

also, many mods / scripts that aren't device specific assume that you have a deodexed system (like v6, beats control, etc). flashing into an odex system either won't persist or could totally screw stuff up lol.
