Someone/ dev please answer me this.
If you are unlocked can you rsd back to 98.xx(last update) take ota to KitKat, do the wipes and all that then install recovery (cmw kitkat is the one that works as far as I have read) then flash root?

That's just it. I have rootz, xda hive. And it seems all much more complicated then necessary. I've been flashing/rooting since droid x(which is still alive as a Wi-Fi media player for my boys).so I guess I'm asking for help from people smarter then myself if I'm right and spread the word to save thousands over the weekend from a temporary brick or a nope that won't work

You have it right, sort of. Just follow the directions in the link I posted. At the end there is the instructions for the unlocked folks on how to put on custom recovery and install supersu.zip . There is NO root for locked bootloaders on KK for the M or HD and no way to protect it and keep it while upgrading atm.
