The DROID Xyboard 8.2 is finally getting ready to get a cold treat that should have already been out, but for some reason the update was pushed off and off, then slated for Q4 of 2012. Well in the last two days of Q3, Verizon and Motorola has announced the ICS update officially.

The update does include Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will bring your device to 12.11.31.MZ609, once completed. Other changes include:
  • Includes the latest Motorola USB driver to allow Xyboard to connect to a computer to transfer files.
  • Securely refresh your Corporate Email account with the native email client.
  • Faster Browsing Experience
  • Improved Network Connectivity
Usually once a changelog is visibly released the update usually rolls out within the next week or so. That's not always the case though, so take that with a grain of salt. The update is 299MB in size.

I must say, the blur ICS lockscreen does not look good on a tablet.

Still awaiting any word on the wifi only Xyboard. Man as much as I really like this tablet, I almost regret buying it.

I thought you had the VZW version? But no I haven't heard anything about the WiFi only Xyboard.

Nah, I have wifi only. I've been talking to level 3 support at motorola and they "suggested" I wait a week before calling in again to get a status. The next day they released the info in the OP. So I am thinking it should be soon for the wifi.

And with the news that was outed today by Motorola, it might be quicker knowing they have 3 less devices to work on ICS for. Although that's bad, it might be good in your case :P
