In keeping with Motorola's aptitude for delays, the word is out that there will be yet another setback in the new RAZR HD/HD MAXX development process.

The issue seems to be with the NFC radio/antenna. Though no specifics about the delay have been confirmed, it seems that the increased size and thickness of the NFC antenna is the culprit.

Motorola/VZW had initially listed the phone as being ready for launch on/about Oct 18th. Though this date is still listed in their system for launch on the 18th, I think we'd be a little ahead of ourselves to assume that Verizon will have these beasts ready for large scale deployment by that date with an issue of this magnitude.Of course, we’ll keep you all posted as this situation develops with new dates and info.

So, as a consumer with buying power, what are your thoughts? Would you rather them take the extra few days or weeks and get it 100% right? Have you been saving your upgrade for this phone? If it’s delayed will you spend your money on a different phone or wait it out? Let us know!

I would rather wait than have a phone to return in the first weeks because of crap like that..... I also heard VZW IS offering a trade in incentive in the form of a gift card if you switch to the Maxx HD from Droid X or 2 I would like to assume there would be something for those of us with the Maxx to upgrade considering our Beloved Maxx is slowly losing ppl to the Galaxy S3 ....what are peoples thoughts on this

I personally am unimpressed with the GS3 but that's just me. I don't know. Anyway, as far as the Razr HD...it just doesn't have the same WOW factor that the Droid X or the Droid Razr had when they were announced/released. I don't know. None of these new devices really blow me away.

I agree with tucstwo on the new offerings don't impress me that much. I feel quite satisfied with my Maxx for the foreseeable future. If I were to find a GS3 cheap enough, I would like to play with it and mod it. My maxx with the lapdock 500 is doing everything I need it to. The ROM I run is ultra smooth and i get great battery life. I've always been an overclocker at heart and have o/c'd my OG Droid and most of my computers, but don't really see a need with the Maxx.

I really enjoy my MAXX and see no reason to spend the money just to get an HD. With the GS4 launch coming up Q1 next year, if I want a new phone, I can always wait. Also, I'd rather wait and have them get it right then have a phone that barely works. Just another day in the life of a dedicated Moto fan, I guess. :)

I love my maxx so much I have several of them. I am one who will be a buyer however, I'm going to wait until well after the official launch. It seems wise to let the masses find the hiccups let them be ironed out, then I'm a buyer.

NO WAY.

With the recent announcements of at least 4 phones coming out next month with:
1.7 quad cores
2 gb ram
HD IPS screens
wireless charging
13gb cameras
latest operating system 4.2(Key lime pie)?

why would i get a phone with the same specs as phones from early this year like the one X or S3 from galaxy.

I think Motorola is pulling these phones to beef up the specs. they need to or i'm not touching it.
I'm leaning towards either the Xperia, LG nexus google phone or the One X+

Adding an image from Toms Hardware of the new LG optimus Google phone.
The 2nd place, OneX uses the same CPU as the RAZR HD's.

I will repeatedly agree with this

I personally am unimpressed with the GS3 but that's just me. I don't know. Anyway, as far as the Razr HD...it just doesn't have the same WOW factor that the Droid X or the Droid Razr had when they were announced/released. I don't know. None of these new devices really blow me away.

the gs3, the iphone5, and the razr hd maxx are all unimpressive to me, the Gnote2 is in the wake and looks impressive, and I don't even need that size but if I get similar specs with a little better gpu from any smaller phone with a good battery size I will upgrade at full price the moment I feel the price justifies the phone, which for me will most likely be a gently used 350 to 450 dollar upgrade once someone else gets it and tries selling or trading it to get an iphone 5 becuase they dont appreciate a droid

I am going to wait until the first of the year. My maxx is doing great right now. I don't see the need to buy another Maxx just because the screen is in HD. They (say) that all the razr line will be ugraded to JB, so what's really the diff? Slightly bigger processor and HD with a slightly bigger screen? Not enough for me to have to spend retail price to keep unlimited data. A Phone will need to blow me away to spend retail. I will need at least 1.7 dual and 2 gig of ram to move. Phones are only getting better, so I would say early '13 will produce some beastly devices.

I was interested in this phone to replace my Razr Maxx because of the bigger screen but most importantly I want a camera as good as the GS3 or the iPhone but to be as good as the iphone seems to be beyond Motorola's design capability for some unknown reason? Omnivision makes the camera module so why can't they buy it from them? Maybe apple buys all there production?
