I'm not sure how to explain. All I can tell you is an xt 912 will only work on Verizon

so what is that gsm stuff on the phone..me too it sounds like it will work on non us gsm carrier.

912 has the hardware to function on nearly every frequency you could wish. However, the radio's firmware has been restricted to not allow US GSM carriers to authenticate. This can be altered however it is not convenient or permanent due to the locked bootloader and signature checks it imposes. If you want a RAZR line product for TMobile, you will want a dev model, the 910, the Razri, or an international HD.
