So, last week I reported on the L9, a mid-range option that will be coming down for T-Mobile customers in the near future. I did some digging on new LG projects and was able to come across this information from androidandme.com and man does it look promising!

Important to remember here is that this device is only confirmed for AT&T and Sprint thus far, but it looks to be quite a step up from previous LG incarnations. In fact, it looks pretty beastly, if you ask me!

Here are the specs (that we have so far):

Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 - Quad Core - 1.5Ghz
OS: Android 4.0.4 (a few sources I've spoken with have mentioned Android 4.2 AKA "Key Lime Pie" but we haven't heard the official word)
Display: 4.7" True HD (1280x768)
Memory: 32GB (probably 16GB internal/16GB External)
RAM: 2GB
Camera: 13 MP Rear, 1.3MP front
Battery: 2100mAh

There are some other specs, but most are standard, such as Bluetooth, A-GPS and such.

So, obviously, LG has been viewed in a negative light among many Android enthusiasts but this phone may be the first step for LG to get into the higher tier phone market. With HTC struggling so hard it seems that LG, if driven enough, could begin to poke their head into the upper tier market. I think we'll be waiting a bit to see how the phone actually performs, but a quadcore S4 processor is a pretty nice start.

Also, the rumor mill is stating that the LG Optimus G "MAY" get a Google Nexus make over. More on that as it becomes available!

We want your opinions! Try to limit the LG bashing, but do you think LG could find a place in the top tier Android phone community? Do you think they're too far behind the curve to catch up?

Isn't 4.2 supposed to still be JB with some new tweaks? Plus, I doubt Google will release a new "desert" so soon after JB.

4.2 is a small step. Similar to ICS->JB. With so many devices already running JB from the manufacturers, it would make sense that, at the very least, it would be upgrade-able to some new, unknown Android version.
