I love my maxx. I want the new one. I don't have $$ for dev version. I have unlimited data, but looking at it, going to the family share plan with my discounts won't kill me or really limit me.
My biggest issue is - I love root. I use many apps that need root. I really don't want to give it up and while I think the maxx may be cracked one day, I'm not sure I can wait!
I've even considered going non-moto for just this reason - no possible of root.
Anyone have any thoughts or where my thinking might be in error?

Root will most likely no longer be possible without a dev edition phone. Moto is locking everything to the kernel which we can't touch without an unlocked BL.

I wonder would root be easier since Moto changed processors?
As stated earlier. Root will probably not be possible at all without a dev device as it will be locked to the kernel. At least for now. Newer is usually synonymous with harder to root as they find more ways to block us

I’m a sucker for a good notification light. When the Galaxy Nexus first launched that sat in the chin of the device, I was super excited because this allowed for another level of customization. Thanks to apps like , you can set up a different color for almost any application on your phone that has notifications. While playing with my this morning, I realized that this is a phone that can take full advantage of multi-coloring, as well.
Embedded under a see-through plastic grill at the top of the front of the device, you’ll find the notification light. When lit, it fills up the entire plastic piece, giving off more colorful light than any phone that I can recall. Rather than being the simple dot of color that you see on most phones, it expands light throughout the see-through rectangular cover, making this one of the better notification lights I have seen.
I immediately installed Light Flow and started tweaking specific colors for specific apps. In the video below, you can see it in action.
