Droidrzr.com members, developers, mods, admins.

There has been a lot of things happening in the past week. Drama, fights, people leaving the site. I am not going to go into details of all that happened because as of now, thats not really important. A lot of members have been confused, looking for answers, wanting to know what has been happening. While all this has gone on, I have been here but not really acted. This is not the first time DR has gone through this but thats the past and we will leave that. Whats different this time though is the way people were treated. This is my first time being in charge of something this big, something that is this important to so many. I'm no dev, I'm just a member that has made his way through the ranks. Conducted myself the way I have always thought was right, treated people with respect, always tried to mediate issues even as just a member. I was put in charge in confidence that I would carry those same traits and have failed at that during this point of time. I never realized how hard it was to do the job that those before me and on other sites do. I didn't think it was going to be easy either, but its not what you expect thats for sure.

I have always had pride in the things that I do and leading this site is no different. When I was told that I was going to be put in charge, I can't begin to explain how excited I was. The fact that DDX had seen something in me that he thought was perfect for the site really meant a lot. DDX has been a mentor, great friend, and awesome leader himself. I wanted to do things the way I thought that he would have. But I have quickly realized that he had some hard choices to make, and here I am in almost the same situation. I ran to him and he kind of gave me ideas but nothing more. I was confused at first but after talking to him the other day, he said something that kind of hit me hard. He said that he can't hold my hand through everything. He also said that all this is just a bump in the road and we will get through it as a site and community.

This all leads up to what I am here now to say.

1. I want to publicly apologize to the staff of DR.com. A lot of things have been acted on by the staff which some viewed as wrong, uncalled for, and unprofessional. This was all due in huge part to me. I left my team unguided. I panicked and lost view of whats right and wrong. The team acted in a way that they thought I would have wanted and I was not there or not prepared to tell them they were right or wrong.

2. I want to publicly apologize to the developers that now call and did call DR.com a home. Our developers felt unsupported, unimportant, almost like objects of ownership. This again is something that I take fault for. When the issues began to arise, we handled them one at a time but didn't publicly make certain that the issues didn't happen again. Due to this, our devs felt like if we were not going to help, support, and protect their work then they would have to themselves and honestly who can blame them. They too acted in a way that though at the time thought was right.

3. I want to apologize to DirtyDroidX and Admin. Again, I was put in charge knowing that I had no dev experience, no background in running a website. But that didn't stop them from choosing me. I let them down by being a coward during all this and not stepping up to the challenge.

4. I want to apologize to the members of DR.com. Had I stepped up and done the right things from the start, we may not be where we are now. Everything that happens on the site does have a affect on you. You have made this place your home, your place to go for answers, your place to hang out and talk to your favorite developers. Without you, our developers are doing what they do for what? Without the developers, our members have no reason to be here.

Now that all that has been said, there is a few more things to address. Developers have been mistreated, ignored, and disrespected. Again this is due to me not being the leader I am expected to be and I take ownership to this error in judgement. So from this point forward as before, the developers that left will NOT have their threads removed, locked, or otherwise disrupted. As before, we will respect there decision in leaving the site and let them update their OPs here with info as they see fit. We had done it for the other developers before and this should be no different.

Thach, don't be so hard on yourself. No one person can be expected to just jump in and run this place. We can all work together to resolve this.

I will follow your lead and do whatever it is you ask, as I have all along. My primary concern is that the site is kept clean. Everyone gets to enjoy modding their phones. That People aren't fighting and arguing. I put the community before everything. I think I can speak for Thach too when I say that nothing that's gone on over the last week has been out of anything other than our desire to do the right thing by the members. That's all. If anyone wants to talk to me, my door is always open, and I don't make it hard to reach out to.

Thanks man but I honestly don't see this as being hard on myself. I really feel in my heart that this is taking responsibility for my lack of actions. I have the utmost confidence in the team that we can all work together to solve this. The first step was me saying that I have failed and will do better.

My friend, I understand what you are saying, and I must say that in my opinion, you are being too tough on yourself....you've had a lot on your plate, and I'm sure it can be rather overwhelming, but I am absolutely confident that you have what it takes to lead this community. I believe DDX made the correct decision in choosing you, and I, for one, am glad to call you boss, friend, and brother (after all, I have always said we're all family here). I have said it before, and I all say it now publicly: you're a good guy, I have great respect for you, and you have my full support...and I know I am not alone ;)

Indeed, time to get to work... I must be honest here and say that I am aware that I have been quite useless as a mod for quite some time...and I will do as much as I can to help put us back on path to being a great big happy family :)

I also told you in private, Thach that you were being too hard on yourself. But I can understand that as a leader, its the right thing to do and to take responsibility when things get fubar'd. With that being said. You say jump, I say how high. And that's how it will stay. Today when you asked me to reopen all the threads for everyone that left, I did it. And that is because I trust your judgement as our leader. Now we can just hope everyone can move on.

Hey Thaaaaach,

Remember the other night when I told you everything would be fine... huh huh? Well you have thoroughly stepped up to the plate my friend! Time to play ball.. :-)
Good leaders are always to hard on themselves when things aren't panning out as they think it should. I commend you for this. I look forward to working with everyone to make sure we get back on track. Every thing you said in your statement I can back! Just another reminder of why I call this forum my home away from home!

See all it took was a little motivation to come out of your shell :) You are, being to hard on yourself . I came to the realization a long time ago that you can't please everyone. I've had to make hard decisions in the past, which impacted many members around me.

The main thing is , it don't matter how much you know or how little. What matters is we are a community . One's status does not affect the community as a whole.I'm glad you finally made a statement and I will back you 100% in with anything you decide a pon.

Well said Thach... I am the new kid on the block and I thoroughly appreciate the opportunity to be part of the staff. I have been around long enough to witness all the drama and I am happy to be moving forward. I too see this place as family including everyone from the staff to the last guy who just joined. Let's make this place the best it can be and more. You have my full support.

Although part of me agrees you are being too hard on yourself, the other part knows as a leader you take responsibility for everyone then lead us to a better place...

Lead on Sir...

I would love some advice from some of you who have been through the ups and downs... Here at DR! I have begun a few communities recently that are growing, only a few thousand members... Not this big ;)... yet.

But I would love to relieve some wisdom, if there is any to be gained. I visit here daily, but have posted scarcely as I spend all day posting and working in my actual own forums... But I love the site, and it very much encompasses the views and desires of my other communities. We have had a few blow ups as we have begun to grow, but I have never known anyone who had been through these steps to talk to and grow from.

I guess, I am saying I would be down for some digital mentoring ;)

I don't post a lot on here but I have to say I'm glad we have the leadership we do on this site. Since I gave my razr to my girlfriend and got an s3 I haven't paid much attention to most of the forum posts, so I missed whatever drama happened. Since I missed it I'm going to leave it at that and not go looking for it. This site has been one of the friendliest places to go since I joined. Anytime I have asked for help there was always someone with a quick reply and the few times I've offered help I felt it was appreciated. I will continue to check in daily to see what's happening in the small but growing s3 section. Basically, I just enjoy the company here. Thanks for all the hard work you all put in to make this the great place it is.

Thach, I got a fortune cookie today that made me think about you and this apology. It said, "Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent." Not saying you aren't talented by any means ( I too am a Photoshop junky and I dig your work). What I am saying is that your character is something to be admired, and I am sure that is why Dave picked you for this position. Only when things get intense do people's true character come out and you stepped right up and proved we could all learn something from people like you. I have every bit of faith this community will come through this stronger than ever because that is what true families do. Good job and thank-you.
