As we all know the RAZR HD came out today. In a surprising turn of fate the Dev Edition is for sale on day 1. WIN. I know I'll be scrounging for my pennies and buying this... um, wait I already put my order in. :)

Was going to upgrade to this but Verizon wants my unlimited data for it.

If you buy directly from motorola or pay full retail (from moto or vzw) you will not lose your unlimited data.

As the difference in power is only ~800 mah this time around I'm not particularly bothered by it. It's not ~1500 like last time around.

RAZR vs MAXX was 1780 vs 3300

RAZR HD vs MAXX is 2530 vs 3300

What good is a phone without a warranty? If it breaks then you're out $600. Developer edition shoud have a warranty too. wtf

Just like any other device w/ an unlocked boot loader.. the warranty is void once you go through the process of unlocking the bootloader. My Xoom, Gnex, Nex7. Each have had the same disclaimer during unlock

Because some of the modifications you can make with an unlocked bootloader can cause physical harm to the device. It has a warranty until you unlock it. Just like any other unlockable BL device warning.

Yeah I realize that. But what if the phone craps out becase of something you didn't do or a manufacturer defect? Then what? Are you screwed? If so than that sucks.

It's very hard to tell the difference between a normal failure and a failure of internal components due to overclock/etc. That's why. Yes it sucks but if you had any other device with an unlockable bootloader this is the boat you fall into as soon as you unlock it anyway. Samsung/HTC/LG/Motorola all follow this system. This device carries a warranty until you unlock it just like any other Motorola phone. If you need the protection of a warranty, don't unlock it.

No dev edition maxx?

I want this new phone as I think it is what I wanted when I got the maxx to begin with coming from a Charge.

What is a pristine used maxx worth on the second hand market?

After owning this phone I can say I am a moto fan. GPS and cell reception are top notch as compared to my prior Samsung phones.

With them not offering a maxx dev addition they may release so battery upgrade kit like they did before so you may be able to do that to the dev model? Nothing like that exists yet but I'm throwing out possibilities for people thinking about it.

Subpar Camera = Fail. All this development for a great phone with a crap camera. I hope that Google fires the Razr project managers and replace them with new people hired from apple.

The warranty bit makes sense but will insurance cover this device?
