I wanna root my razr but I'm new to this and have no idea what I'm doing so i figured it would be a good idea to try things out on my old Droid X. Anybody got info for a noob on how to root this thing?

It's easy man. Skip the Droid X and just do your razr. Download this utility:

Just read the original post fully and follow the directions. Piece of cake...

Lol that the thing, i don't know what any of the terminology and all that means so its hard to understand directions. Like i'm not sure what safe strap or roms or anything are and I wanted something to practice on.

Take it one at a time. Rooting is quick with that utility then start reading up on Safestrap which you will need to flash Roms. It just takes some time hanging out here and asking questions. We'll all be glad to help you out.

Right, honestly, I think its easier to root the Razr than the DX, but to each their own! The utility makes it pretty simple though. Plug in phone, hit enter, go make a sandwich, return to rooted phone.

Both of those are extremely useful references if you don't understand the terminology :)
